Q&A: Adam Cohen talks music, boxing, and NYC

Adam Cohen a long time friend and a music insider did a little one on one Q&A with littlesecrets. The man probably has the best job ever going to the best concerts, chilling VIP, and getting amazing seats to the sickest events. Check out what this cool New York City born and raised guy had to say. To keep up with Adam's latest moves find him on twitter @adamcny.

1. what made you want to get into marketing/pr?

It was a natural transition from the music business. After working at Bad Boy and Island Def Jam, I knew I wanted to continue working in the music industry but wasn't sure to what capacity. While at Island Def Jam, I worked on a project with someone from Cornerstone and immediately realized this was the company for me - working with brands and with artists/music. After emailing that person about a job for months, I finally got my foot in the door... 5 years later, I'm still going strong here.

2. who are you favorite clients to work with?

Crown Royal, Microsoft and Pepsi are great. Good people and great visions.

Mr. MEF and Adam

3. You go to a lot of amazing shows, concerts, sporting events, etc. What's been the best so far?

For music, Bonnaroo is by far the best festival in the states. Saw Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z on stage back to back in 2010 - really can't beat that. SXSW is always a great time, its a bit more industry but just as fun. Best concert was Jay-Z and Eminem at Yankee Stadium. For sports, sitting ringside at Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto fight in Vegas was surreal. Next level.

4. What's the last amazing event you attended?

Just did an amazing event with Lipton Brisk Iced Tea (under the Pepsi helm) in September. We recreated a bodega as a one-day pop up experience in the Village. It was open during the day for the public and a private event at night with performances by Shady Record artists. On display was the Shady Museum, which exhibited exclusive items from Eminem's past, including his Grammy and outfits from his music videos.

5. How would you describe your style?

New York.

6. What's your go-to brunch spot on a hungover Saturday afternoon?

My kitchen.

7. What’s on your i-pod at the moment that people should check out?

New Drake album is next level. It's not out yet but is some cutting edge music (http://youtu.be/vhlNG5qJy8I). Little Dragon (http://youtu.be/adGJG0xZbxk) is amazing - Big Boi put me onto them.If you want to lose your mind, listen to ARAABMUZIK's Electronic Dream mixtape (http://youtu.be/C2hW6WJ_goM). Also GHE20 G0TH1K is some weird shit but real dope - just saw them spin at Westway recently (http://youtu.be/tAES_pMsfuk). Have to give it up to my boy Zack for the tip on them (http://youtu.be/tAES_pMsfuk).
